Is what I tell you confidential?I will listen and talk to you with respect, honesty and compassion. We will speak in strictest confidence unless (in accordance with the BACP Code of Ethics that I adhere to) someone is at risk of serious harm. I store any personal information in line with ICO and The Data Protection Act. During online therapy sessions we strongly advise that you find a quiet place for your session to take place, at a time when you are unlikely to be disturbed, so that you can focus in your session knowing that your privacy is assured.

What happens at the first meeting? Our first session together is an opportunity for you to get an idea about what counselling with me might be like, ask any questions you have and see if you feel I am the right therapist for you. Counselling/Psychotherapy involve me listening to you to explore what you are experiencing in a safe confidential space. I will use my expertise and experience to provide different perspectives and skills around the problems you confront. Together we can make better sense of things, an aim is to discover a solution that's right for you, enabling you to move forward towards a more positive future.

What type of Therapy will I need?Rather than working from just one theoretical approach, I am committed to using the range of knowledge and techniques I have gained from my years of training and experience. I will work with you to tailor your individual therapy to suit you, your relationship and your family. I ask for feedback throughout our sessions, with you telling me what is most useful I can continue using the approaches and techniques that you find most effective.
-
How long will I need to have Counselling/Therapy?I provide brief/short term therapy (6 focused sessions) or longer term therapy. When we first meet we will discuss what will suit you and the issues you are facing, together we will agree how to proceed. I am aware that the number of sessions you wish to have may be affected by your financial circumstances, this would form part of our initial discussion.
-
What happens if I cancel my appointment?I ask for more than 48 hours notice to cancel an appointment unless there are exceptional circumstances. Cancellation with less than 48 hours notice incurs a charge for the full cost of the session. This is to cover the loss of my available hours when I could have seen another client.
-
Can I get an evening or weekend appointment?I work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday,daytimes/evenings. Weekend appointments may be available if we are unable to meet at any other time. Please contact me for my availability.
-
Is there parking? Are the venues easily accessible?Sessions take place in my purpose built Therapy Studio in Milton. There is plenty of free parking within one hundred metres of the studio. Bicycles can be left safely within the grounds of the premises. Access to the Therapy Studio is very discrete. Please inform me about any accessibility or additional needs you have during our initial conversation, I will do my best to meet those needs.
